| Last Saturday, Ossining, Briarcliff Manor, Millwood, Dobbs Ferry, & Croton-on-Hudson all headed north on I-95 for a joint live burn in New Haven. Many of these agencies regularly operate together on 10-75’s and greater alarm assignments, making this the perfect opportunity for coordinated box alarm drills and realistic fireground scenarios. The day began with companies rotating through 6 different stations and evolutions designed to challenge members in multiple aspects of engine, truck, and search operations. Scenario 1: Basement Fires The day wrapped up with multiple box alarm drills that combined all of the day’s skills into coordinated multi-company operations. Trainings like this — especially live burns involving multiple departments — are becoming more common, and for good reason. Beyond the ability to split costs between agencies, the real value comes from building trust, communication, and operational consistency among departments that may end up working side-by-side when the next box drops. Summer is here and the calendar is already filling into the fall. Get those training schedules locked in and budgets put to work. Reach out to Josh and see what Signal 73 Fire Training can bring to your department to keep your members street ready for the next one. |
